Sr. Software Apps Engineer (Atlassian)

They are seeking a Sr. Software Apps Engineer specializing in Atlassian to modernize user engagement with their platforms, focusing on enhancing user experience and implementing AI-driven efficiencies. Responsibilities: Lead the architecture, configuration, and optimization of Jira Software, Jira Service Management (JSM), Loom, Rovo, and Confluence, ensuring a high-performance, enterprise-grade environment; Manage global settings, user permissions, and security schemes in a central shared management environment, ensuring strict adherence to compliance and data privacy standards; Design and implement AI-driven agents and workflows using Atlassian Rovo to accelerate knowledge discovery and reduce manual support overhead; Build scalable self service pattern templates, request types, forms and automations that enable teams to manage their own workflows; Proactively identify and implement AI-driven efficiencies in platform administration, replacing repetitive configuration tasks with automated scripts or AI-assisted workflows; Evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs from platform features to ensure accuracy, reliability, and security for the end-user base; Simplify workflows, configuration and establish standards that reduce complexity and prevent sprawl; Build advanced Jira Automations (Global and Project level) to reduce manual toil and streamline cross-functional handoffs; Utilize scripting (e.g., ScriptRunner) to extend Jira capabilities beyond out-of-the-box functionality; Evaluate Atlassian Cloud features and Marketplace apps to guide platform improvements; Use insights and usage trends to identify friction points and drive continuous enhancement of the Jira/JSM experience; Act as the "Gatekeeper of Process": Consult with business units to translate their Qualifications: A problem solver, self motivated and life time learner; Has an ownership mindset; 5+ years administering Atlassian Cloud software and marketplace plugins; Bachelor of Science college degree or equivalent work experience; Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP); Experience with Atlassian Cloud Migrations; Experience working in a central shared services model, balancing flexibility for teams with the stability of the platform; Strong software development experience with hands-on expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java); Experience leveraging AI/ML-powered tools or automation to enhance workflows, improve user experience, or drive operational efficiency within enterprise platforms; Demonstrated proficiency in prompt engineering and interacting with LLMs (e.g., Gemini, Claude) to accelerate script development, troubleshooting, and documentation; Proven experience building and maintaining applications, with a focus on automated testing, and implementing metrics, monitoring, and alerting to ensure system reliability and health; Ability to simplify complex setups and build standardized reusable patterns; Comfortable working in an environment focused on modernization, user experience and operational efficiency; Partner with cross functional teams to translate needs into clean, supportable configurations Required Skills: Atlassian Cloud administration, Atlassian marketplace plugins, Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP), Atlassian Cloud Migrations, Shared services model experience, Software development, Python, Java, AI/ML-powered tools, Automation, Prompt engineering, Large language models (LLMs), Automated testing, Metrics, Monitoring, CI/CD, GitHub, Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, ScriptRunner, Jira Automations, Self motivation, Ownership mindset
